Alternative Dispute Resolution: Home

ADR Resource Guide

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) refers to a number of processes available for settling disputes other than traditional litigation in the public courts.

Two primary processes of ADR are mediation and arbitration. Mediation uses a neutral third party to facilitate negotiations among conflicting parties to promote a settlement. Arbitration is a process by which a mutually-agreed third party is selected, and after hearing evidence from all parties, the arbitrator decides the outcome of the dispute.

This Guide introduces ADR resources available at Marquette University Eckstein Law Library. Print resources include treatises, scholarly journals, and practical videos.  Online resources include educational and research agencies, blogs, and professional organizations.
