Class Recordings

Where a student misses class you have the option to record class for later viewing by the student. Alternatively, students who have to miss might ask you if they can participate synchronously using Teams.  Please be cautious in agreeing to do that, as it can impair the learning experience for students in class to have a student participate live from a remote location.

The preferred practice is to schedule your class for the entire semester, inviting only yourself. This creates a recurring Teams meeting that is available when you need it.

Schedule Your Class for the Semester

  • Schedule your class on your Teams calendar to create a place to start a meeting. The only participant of the meeting will be you. Permissions for sharing will be added after the class has finished recording.

Teams Meeting Recordings and Expiration

Recordings will be saved in one of two destinations, based on how the meeting was scheduled:

  • Teams channel meetings will be saved to the Microsoft Teams site under the channel's Files tab in the Recordings folder.
  • Teams meetings scheduled via Outlook will be saved to the OneDrive for Business account of the person who started the recording. By default, these videos are saved for 180 days.

If the Teams meeting recordings you own must be kept, you change the video's expiration setting. Learn more about Teams meeting recordings and expiration.
