Study aids—including those from CALI, the LexisNexis Digital Library, and Quimbee—never substitute for your own work during law school. You must develop the mental muscles necessary to analyze and apply the law. Rely on study strategies you learn through the Academic Success Program and on information from your professors, considering study aids only to supplement or test your understanding. Some study aids, like the Examples & Explanation series or the Questions & Answers series are good sources of hypotheticals. Many of the study aids in the law library's collection are available to Marquette law students online through the LexisNexis Digital Library. Log in to the Digital Library using your Marquette email address and the PIN you received in an email from Professor Olson during your 1L orientation. Lost your PIN? Contact Professor Olson to get a replacement.
CALI study aids are written by practitioners and law professors to assist students in the review of points of law discussed in class. To access CALI, click on the CALI link on the law library's Databases and Subscriptions page. Click on “Register” in the upper right-hand corner of the resulting screen. The first box requires an authorization code; contact a reference librarian for our school's access code. Fill out the rest of the registration form so that you can use the lessons and see results. You will create your own username and password, so this will be an individual account.
Quimbee is an online collection of study aids that includes video lessons, with transcripts and quizzes. To log in to Quimbee, go to https://www.quimbee.com/. You should have received an emailed invitation to join Marquette's group Quimbee account during orientation (if you are a 1L) or during a previous fall semester. If you do not have access and are interested, please contact the reference desk to request that a new invitation be sent. If you are unable to register through the MULS organizational link because you already have an existing personal account for Quimbee, please contact Quimbee directly to inquire about access through Marquette’s subscription.
